Description: Johannes Ebeling is carbon finance specialist and project intermediary with an in-depth understanding of carbon offset project development, environmental markets, and climate policy. He has a particular expertise in land-use based carbon mitigation and REDD. Currently based in Madagascar as an independent consultant, Mr. Ebeling is advising international and local non-governmental, public, and corporate clients on offset project design, carbon policy, and carbon credit sourcing and trading. He also works as an auditor for carbon forestry projects and acts as an intermediary between local project opportunities and international project developers and investors. While working for EcoSecurities, as Senior Manager in Ecosystem Markets, during previous years and in his current role, Mr. Ebeling assessed numerous forestry carbon projects in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia for their carbon credit potential, methodological and financial risk profile, and social and environmental impacts. Prior to his work with EcoSecurities, Mr. Ebeling designed and managed research efforts with GTZ on forest certification and market-based conservation, involving industry, government and communities, analyzed strategies of international environmental organizations with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, advised on urban energy policy with the Institute for Applied Ecology and modeled regional climate impacts with the Sustainable Research Institute. Mr. Ebeling holds an MSc in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford, and an M.A. in Political Science, Biology and Geography from the University of Freiburg, Germany, and has also studied at the Free University of Berlin and the University of British Columbia, Canada. He has authored or co-authored a number of scientific journal articles, policy reports, and book chapters and spoken at numerous international conferences.

Description: Agro-economist, Olivier Bouyer has 10 years of professional experience. He started “in the field”, working for 5 years for the French co-operation, in West Africa, both as advisor to local administrations and as team-coordinator of field officers supporting farmer-based organisations. He pursued his career for more than 3 years as a sink expert (i.e. in charge of LULUCF and REDD+) in the climate change negotiation team of the French Government, participating in climate talks (COPs in Nairobi, Bali, Poznan, Copenhagen, as well as the inter-COP: Bonn, Accra, Bangkok, Barcelona, etc.) and climate/forest related fora (UNFF, MCPFE, G8 and MEF). He notably chaired the European sink experts group during the French presidency of the European Union. He now coordinates the climate change activities within ONFI (10-people staff), both in its institutional and operational aspects.

Description: Durando Ndongsok is Managing Director of S2 Services SARL, the Cameroonian subsidiary of the German company S2 Services GmbH (S2). Combining the western business stringency and the understanding of the business environment in Africa is key to S2’s success. Prior to joining S2, Durando Ndongsok worked for over three years as project manager with First Climate. His role was the identification, assessment and development of CDM and VER projects in Africa. He has also built a strong First Climate brand in Africa through active participation in all major carbon finance related events in Africa. His analysis in carbon finance related articles and presentations have been actively welcomed and inspired many stakeholders in the carbon finance field. Durando participated as guest speaker in many CASCADe workshops to bring to the attention of project developers the expectations of carbon asset buyers. As a Cameroonian, fluent in English and French, Durando has built excellent relationships with African businesses and DNAs. He holds degrees in Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering and an MBA in International Management of Resources and Environment. He also successfully completed, in 2010, an online course on Energy for Sustainable Development.
